They argued it should include both immigrants and refugees. They also requested that APS help address transportation needs and other needs for families who are struggling financially. Advocates also asked for any newcomer program to focus on high school students who need both language instruction and assistance in catching up on grade-level content. Instead, the newcomer program at La Mesa Elementary School will focus on refugee students in grades K-6.<\/p>\n<p><em>New Mexico in Focus<\/em> will continue to cover this issue.
