She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communication and journalism from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unm.edu\/\">University of New Mexico<\/a> and minored in Native American studies.<\/p>\n<p>Antonia is a former board member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/najanewsroom.com\/\">Native American Journalists Association (NAJA),<\/a> which serves and empowers Native journalists. She is also a recipient of the 2016 NAJA Richard LaCourse Award for her reporting on the Gold King Mine spill. Seeing a need for more Native journalists, she encourages Native youth to take an interest in the field-especially broadcasting-and she has done so by mentoring at NAJA conferences and by guest speaking via Skype with colleges in Montana and Canada. She is Professor of Practice in the Communication and Journalism Department at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unm.edu\/\">UNM<\/a>, where she runs the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nmlocalnews.org\/fellowship\/\">NM Local News Fellowships<\/a>. Gwyneth has also covered state government as an editor and reporter at The New Mexico Independent, <a href=\"https:\/\/nmindepth.com\/\">New Mexico in Depth<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/\">KUNM Radio News<\/a>. Her report on government accountability for the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicintegrity.org\/\">Center for Public Integrity<\/a> was a finalist for the <a href=\"https:\/\/goldsmithawards.org\/\">Goldsmith Prize<\/a> from Harvard&#8217;s Kennedy School. Her work has been honored with awards from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spj.org\/\">SPJ<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfpw.org\/\">National Federation of Press Women<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aan.org\/\">Association for Alternative Newsweeklies<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irmamagazines.com\/\">International Regional Magazine Association<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmba.org\/\">New Mexico Broadcasters Association<\/a>. Gwyneth was previously the executive director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nmfog.org\/\">New Mexico Foundation for Open Government<\/a> and has been recognized with a First Amendment Award from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu-nm.org\/\">ACLU-NM<\/a>. She is secretary of the board at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaws.org\/\">Journalism and Women Symposium<\/a> and is active in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spj.org\/\">SPJ<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/nahj.org\/\">NAHJ<\/a> and IJA.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newmexicopbs.org\/productions\/newmexicoinfocus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/Megan.jpg\" alt=\"Megan Kamerick\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1080\" width=\"1920\" title=\"Megan Kamerick\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h2>\n\t\tMegan Kamerick\n\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>Megan Kamerick has been a journalist for over 25 years and currently serves as the news director at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/\">KUNM-FM<\/a> in Albuquerque, where she also produces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/show\/university-showcase\">University Showcase<\/a>. She previously hosted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/programs\/all-things-considered\/\">All Things Considered<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/programs\/morning-edition\/\">Morning Edition<\/a> at the station. She produced public affairs shows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newmexicopbs.org\/productions\/newmexicoinfocus\/\">New Mexico in Focus<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/publicsq.com\/\">Public Square<\/a> at New Mexico PBS as well as podcasts on women&#8217;s suffrage and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newmexicopbs.org\/growing-forward-podcast\/\">the cannabis industry<\/a>, and she continues as a correspondent with the station.<\/p>\n<p>Megan has freelanced for various magazines, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/\">NPR<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latinousa.org\/\">Latino USA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketplace.org\/\">Marketplace<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/capitalandmain.com\/\">Capital &amp; Main<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peacetalksradio.com\/\">Peace Talks Radio<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solutionsjournalism.org\/\">Solutions Journalism Network<\/a>, where she was also a fellow. She began her career after grad school at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marquette.edu\/\">Marquette University<\/a> working as a business reporter and editor in San Antonio, New Orleans and Albuquerque. Megan is the previous president of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jaws.org\/\">Journalism &amp; Women Symposium<\/a>, a national organization. Currently she serves on the boards of the <a href=\"https:\/\/spjriogrande.org\/\">Society of Professional Journalists-Rio Grande Chapter<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goodradioshows.org\/\">Good Radio Shows<\/a>. Megan has done two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ted.com\/speakers\/megan_kamerick\">TED talks<\/a> on women and media and is a TED speaker coach.
