11/2/12 New Mexico in Focus Audio: Episode 618

This week, NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS wraps up the campaign season with a close examination of key races for the New Mexico House of Representatives. It’s been decades since Republicans have had a real chance to win the majority. The Line opinion panel lays out the odds. The group also looks at the narratives that will define this election.

With just days left before the last ballots are cast and counted, Secretary of State Dianna Duran and Bernalillo County Clerk Maggie Toulouse Oliver are in-studio to assess turnout for early and absentee voting. The pair will also preview Election Day action and reveal the timeline for returns that night.

Martha Burk concludes her look at women’s issues in the election with a discussion about “wedge” issues. Are they
successful in getting people to the polls? Are there issues that keep women away from the ballot box? The political psychologist discusses the topic with host Gene Grant.
