Once a drummer from the 80s & 90s grunge scene, Barret moved on to become an ethnomusicologist, studying music with indigenous peoples from all over the world. He created the group Tuatara with his own music taking a turn towards jazz & is also an ordained Zen priest in the Soto tradition.
