The Line: Trouble Within APS Administration

August 21, 2015 – New information emerged this week in an ongoing battle inside the new administration for Albuquerque Public Schools.

Superintendent Dr. Luis Valentio accidentally sent a text message two weeks ago to CFO Don Moya that he intended to send to New Mexico Education Secretary Hanna Skandera. In the texts, Dr. Luis Valentino says he is “going to go after Don Moya.”

Moya is currently on administrative leave. This week, the Line opinion panelists debated new reports on emails between Don Moya and deputy superintendent Jason Martinez. According to the emails, Moya had raised concerns about a questionable RFP.

UPDATE: After our weekly taping on Thursday afternoon, APS deputy superintendent Jason Martinez resigned. The Albuquerque Journal also reported late this week that Martinez started working for the district without completing a required background check.
