The Line: Local Response To Hate Groups

August 17, 2017 – Albuquerque and Santa Fe were among the cities holding rallies this week in protest against racism and hatred, in light of the violence that erupted recently in Charlottesville, Virginia. How does one fight hatred? Should those who add to hate-speech be held accountable? After an incendiary post by Doña Ana county’s GOP chairman caused a stir, he resigned.  But in defense of free speech, the ACLU defends the rights of white supremacist groups to protest. Host Gene Grant and this week’s Line panelists discuss the many implications of this story.

Line Panelists:
Merritt Allen, Vox Optima LLC
Laura Sanchez-Rivét, attorney at Cuddy and McCarthy, LLP
