The Line: Albuquerque Public Schools Board Elections

February 3, 2017 – On the Line this week, the panel discusses what’s at stake in the upcoming elections for the Albuquerque Public Schools board and the Central New Mexico Community College governing board, which will be held February 7.

CNM has four seats up in this election. Candidates in districts 1, 3, 5 and 7 are vying for a four-year term on the governing board. District 4 is a two-year term to complete an unfinished term.

APS has four seats up as well in districts 3, 5, 6 and 7.

Voter turnout for school board elections has been low in past years, but the Albuquerque Journal reports that the number of people running for open seats in 2017 is higher than past elections.
