The Legacy Of The Harvey Girls

April 1, 2016 – Many young women took a risk in the  late 1800s and early 1900s when they moved out west to work for the Harvey House restaurants and hotels. This week producer Sarah Gustavus sits down with local author Carolyn Meyer to talk about her research on the Harvey Girls experience for her novel “Diary of a Waitress: The Not-So-Glamorous Life of a Harvey Girl.” We also feature an excerpt from Katrina Parks’ documentary “The Harvey Girls: Opportunity Bound.”
