The graduate of the University of New Mexico talks about his career and his biography, “The Man from Essence: Creating a Magazine for Black Women.”

NMIF explores the fictional worlds created by George R. R. Martin, a Santa Fe-based author whose books are the basis of the popular HBO series “Game of Thrones.” In this encore interview, Martin tells correspondent Gwyneth Doland about his writing process, pressure to finish his books and how he keeps track of the hundreds of characters he creates.

NMiF Producer Megan Kamerick sits down with Lisa VeneKlasen, who was recently recognized by the mayor of Santa Fe for her work on human rights. VeneKlasen runs Just Associates (JASS), a global network of activists, educators and scholars who promote women’s rights, health and economic empowerment.
