Cindi Feldwisch: One Of The First Women To Serve In The Air Force Honor Guard

March 30, 2018 -Cindi Feldwisch was one of five women to serve as the first female members of the Air Force Honor Guard. In these high-profile and prestigious positions members are the face of the Air Force in important ceremonies, including funerals for Air Force members and their families. The women became known as the First Five and broke barriers for women who followed, changing things such as a rule that prevented them from carrying M-1 rifles during their official duties. Feldwisch went on to serve in the Air National Guard in several states, eventually attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After 34 years of service, she retired from the New Mexico Air National Guard in 2017.
