Albuquerque Rapid Transit Construction: City And Business Perspective

April 14, 2017 – The controversial Albuquerque Rapid Transit project is now under construction along Central avenue. The project started under the Obama administration and federal funds to pay for it were included in the previous administration’s federal budget. President Trump did not include funding for public transit, including A.R.T, in his budget for the current fiscal year. That has some Albuquerque residents nervous about who will pay for the dedicated bus line. At the same time, some businesses are publicly speaking out about the financial struggles they are facing with construction outside their doors.

This week, correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with two city officials (link below) and two business owners (link above) to talk about these issues and what might happen next.

Guests:
Gary Oppedahl, director, Economic Development Department, City of Albuquerque
Dayna Crawford, ART project manager
Gabriel Amador, Amore Neapolitan Pizzeria
Collin Troy, The Octopus and the Fox
