UP HEARTBREAK HILL

7:00pm – 9:00pm

KiMo Theater
423 Central Avenue NW
Albuquerque, NM

Honest and poignant, Up Heartbreak Hill is an intimate documentary film featuring a generation of young Americans struggling to be both Native and modern.

Up Heartbreak Hill takes the audience on a remarkable journey with three Navajo teens as they face one of the biggest decisions of their lives. Stars at their rural New Mexico high school, Thomas, Tamara, and Gabby share their innermost thoughts and complicated lives. They are torn between the lure of brighter futures elsewhere and the ties that bind them to home. For these teens, however, home is an impoverished town on the Navajo reservation, and leaving means separating from family, tradition and the land that has been theirs for generations.

This special screening features an 82 minute version of the documentary with footage not seen in the broadcast program. Following the screening, please stay for a Q&A with the film’s stars and director Erica Scharf.
