Why Raising Readers Now?
80% of New Mexico’s 4th graders scored below proficient compared with 68% nation-wide. (The 2009 National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Reading Test)Failure to read proficiently is linked to higher rates of school dropout, which suppresses individual earning potential as well as the nation’s competitiveness and general productivity. PBS Raising Readers programs and curriculum works. Research on SUPER WHY! Reading Camps shows Campers showed gains in all of the literacy skills presented in the program:

- 84% gain in encoding
- 29% gain in reading words
