New Mexico PBS  Ready to Learn Summer Workshop Schedule

All workshops are FREE and Open to the PublicHOWEVER, participants must Call (505) 277-4087 to register. Space is limited. Registration is necessary. Thank you.

All workshops are considered adult-trainings. Unless specified, children are not allowed as we do not provide activities for them. Please bring your own food and drink, as we are not able to provide refreshments.  All workshops meet the requirements of CYFD.

The New Mexico PBS Ready To Learn Service is funded with local support from the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners.  PBSKids Raising Readers initiatives and workshops are sponsored by St. Joseph Community Health.

JULY

July 14 — 10:00am-12:00pm
Mountain View Private Elementary — 4100 New Vistas Ct. NW
Raising Readers- PBSKids and Literacy  (4&5)
This is a new workshop that focuses on literacy research conducted by the US Department of Education and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.  Participants will explore these results and learn about successful resources that can help all caregivers and parents build children’s literacy skills and motivate children to learn.

Super Why!  (4&5)
This new PBS Kids series is perfect for teaching children reading skills. Participants will gain knowledge of books, activities, and storytelling that can help any young child build skills and confidence in learning how to read. Come and learn what makes the SuperWhy series so super!

View, Read, Do  (4&5)
This workshop gives caregivers the basic principles behind the “Learning Triangle.” In depth participants will understand the concept of view-read-do for choosing and viewing television, reading books, and creating fun activities to support learning.

August 25 — 10:00am-12:00pm

Martha Speaks- Martha in the Classroom  (4&5)
This new PBS Kids series is perfect for teaching children reading skills.  Learn how the show provides lessons and activities to teach vocabulary skill building, and when kids know lots of words it helps them become better readers. Come find out what makes the Martha Speaks series and programs something to bark about!
