Today at Duranes Elementary, New Mexico PBS visited the summer school program to talk to kids about our New Mexico PBS KIDS Writers Contest! The contest empowers kids to use their unique voices and build literacy skills by writing and illustrating their very own stories – and then entering them in for the chance to win cool prizes! Our contest coordinator, Hollie, talked to the kids in grades K – 3 about what makes a good story and how to enter their own for the contest before sharing a video of the beloved PBS character Arthur working on his own story. The kids were engaged and excited about the presentation and seemed eager to get out and write their own stories.
This is one of a series of presentations being held at K-3 Plus Summer Schools in Albuquerque to support our FREE workshops held at the East Mountain, Erna Ferguson, and Los Alamos Public Libraries.
